A Delicious, Seasonal Cold Foam With Just Two Ingredients

Similar to the Starbucks recipe, this pumpkin cream cold foam has only two ingredients—5 Minute Pumpkin Spice Syrup and 2% milk. Let’s get into it:

  • Pumpkin Spice Syrup. My 5 Minute Pumpkin Spice Syrup recipe is also based on Starbucks recipe, allowing you to recreate the their lattes at home PERFECTLY. In a pinch, you can use store bought pumpkin syrup—but your recipe won’t taste exactly like Starbucks. So I recommend taking the extra 5 minutes to whip up this syrup at home!
  • 2% Milk. Starbucks uses 2% milk as their default when making their drinks. If you want an exact replica of their drink, I recommend using the same! That being said, I also tested this recipe with whole milk and found that I still was able to make a perfectly creamy and frothy pumpkin cold foam.

If you’re a plant based milk girlie though, you might be out of luck. I tested the recipe with popular alternatives like almond and oat milk and found that I couldn’t get the cold foam to froth properly.

How To Make Pumpkin Cream Cold Foam (With Just A Jar)

Watch the short video below to see the basic steps for making the recipe:

Making Cold Foam In Jar Versus With A Milk Frother

Some recipes online instruct you to use a milk frother. However, I don’t recommend it. It’s easy to overwhip the cold foam with a milk frother. And doing so results in the cold foam separating, taking on an unpleasant texture similar to what happens when a custard splits.

So instead, I instruct you to mix the ingredients in a small jar with a lid (I used a cleaned out Bonne Maman jam jar, but you can also use a mason jar or whatever else you have on hand). Seal the jar tightly and give it a good shake, similar to what you would do when making a drink with a cocktail shaker. Although it’s a little bit of a workout, it results in a much creamier, softer pumpkin cream cold foam that won’t separate.

  • Make the pumpkin cream cold foam. In a small jam jar with a lid, combine the milk and syrup. Seal with the lid and shake vigorously for 1 to 2 minutes until thick, but soft and creamy.

  • Serve immediately. Pour the pumpkin cream cold foam over the coffee or espresso beverage of your choice. Serve immediately.
